== Overview == The '''Squirrel Nut Zippers''' are an American jazz band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Often associated with the 1990s swing revival, the groupโs sound is a "hot jazz" fusion of Delta blues, gypsy jazz, swing, and klezmer. They reached mainstream success in the mid-1990s, most notably with their 1996 RIAA Platinum-certified album ''Hot'' and the hit single "Hell." The band's name is derived from a 1920s-era chewy molasses-and-peanut candy called "Squirrel Nut Zippers," manufactured by the Squirrel Brand company.
