''[[The Beatles (White Album)]]'' (1968) was a sprawling double album showcasing each member's distinct songwriting voice. ''[[Abbey Road]]'' (1969) is often cited as their finest studio achievement. The band officially disbanded in 1970, with Paul McCartney's public announcement in April of that year. Legal disputes over management and creative control had been growing since the death of their manager [[Brian Epstein]] in 1967.
