| | |
| ==Early life==
| |
| Tim Wolf grew up on a farm near Huron, South Dakota, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse. He began playing guitar in grade school and continued to develop as a musician throughout his adult years, later adding the saxophone to his repertoire and performing semi-professionally in a cover band.
| |
| | |
| Despite his passion for music, Wolf spent years working various jobs and even pursued an entrepreneurial venture in the snack food industry, which proved financially difficult. His cover band eventually dissolved, and at the urging of a close friend who insisted he pursue his true calling, Wolf made a decisive change: he sold the farm and relocated to Nashville in 2017 to pursue music full-time.
| |
| | |
| ==Career==
| |
| Wolf's transition to Nashville's competitive music scene was challenging. He worked with prominent producers who, while interested in his talents, pushed him hard to refine his craft — particularly his vocals. Wolf has spoken openly about being "broken down" many times in the process, but credited the experience with helping him grow as an artist.
| |
| | |
| His songwriting is deeply influenced by his South Dakota upbringing, drawing on images of rural life, wide-open landscapes, and the mythology of the American frontier. He has described his music as aiming to "transcend physical geography."
| |
| | |
| Wolf's Castle Built of Cards EP was released on all major digital platforms and includes six tracks, two of which — "Born In South Dakota" and "Castle Built of Cards" — were co-written with guitarist Jimmy Davis. Among his other notable works are the tracks "Earthquake In A Bottle," "A Million Little Hearts," and "Frequency," produced by Schick.
| |
| | |
| He is a voting member of the Recording Academy (the Grammy organization) and has charted on the Billboard charts as an independent artist.
| |
| | |
| ==Musical style and influences==
| |
| Wolf's sound blends blues rock, Americana, and alternative rock, anchored by his lead guitar work and distinctive low-register vocals. His guitar playing has drawn comparisons to Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. He has cited the following artists as primary influences:

| | |
